Caring for rattan and wicker
Rattan and wicker pieces bring natural texture to your home. While durable, they are susceptible to damage from excessive moisture and prolonged direct sunlight, which can lead to brittleness or discolouration.
How to clean rattan and wicker?
Gently dust your items regularly with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner attachment. For deeper cleaning, wipe with a damp cloth dipped in a solution of mild washing-up liquid and water. Rinse by wiping with a clean, damp cloth, then allow the item to air dry completely away from direct heat. Avoid soaking or using abrasive cleaners.
Can I repair minor damage?
For small breaks or loose strands, apply a small amount of wood glue to the affected area. Press the pieces together firmly and hold with masking tape or a small clamp until the glue is fully dry. For significant structural damage or extensive weaving repairs, it is often best to consult a professional restorer.
How to restore shine to rattan and wicker?
To prevent dryness and restore a natural lustre, periodically wipe your clean rattan or wicker item with a soft cloth lightly dampened with linseed oil or a natural furniture polish. Apply sparingly and buff gently to avoid a sticky residue. This helps to nourish the fibres and maintain flexibility.
What harms rattan and wicker?
The primary threats to rattan and wicker are excessive moisture, which can cause mildew and weakening, and direct sunlight, which leads to fading and brittleness. Avoid placing items in consistently damp areas or in direct sunbeams. Protect surfaces from spills and wipe them immediately to prevent water damage.
Shipping and delivery
Shipping is free worldwide on most orders. Orders are prepared within one to three days, and most arrive 9 to 18 days after you order.
Large and heavy pieces, such as furniture, can carry a delivery charge because they ship as freight rather than as a parcel. Any charge is calculated from your address and shown at checkout before you pay, so nothing is added afterwards.
Every piece is checked before it leaves the workshop, and every order is sent with tracking so you can follow it to your door.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is this chandelier lamp made of?
It is made from bamboo, rattan and wicker. Because it is worked by hand from a natural material, grain, tone and weave vary slightly from piece to piece, so the one you receive will not be identical to the photograph.
How do you clean and care for bamboo?
Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. Bamboo handles normal household humidity but should not sit wet. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun, which bleaches the surface over time.
How long does delivery take?
Orders are prepared within one to three days and usually arrive 9 to 18 days after you order, depending on the destination. Shipping is free. We ship across the EU, the UK, the US, Canada and Australia.
What is the return policy?
You can return an item within 30 days of delivery. Returns are made by post and the return postage is paid by the customer. The item needs to come back in its original condition.
