Boho Floor Lamps with Handwoven Rattan Shades
Standing lamps in woven rattan and bamboo that light a corner without wiring anything into the ceiling.
A boho floor lamp does the job an overhead light cannot: it lights the part of the room you actually sit in, at the height you sit at. With a woven rattan shade it also puts texture into a corner that would otherwise be empty wall.
This is a small, deliberate range. Seven standing lamps, all handwoven, between roughly 140 and 160 cm tall. Below them there are notes on where a floor lamp beats a table lamp, what shade shape does to the light, and why these suit rented flats.
No electrician needed
A floor lamp plugs into a socket. Nothing gets wired into the ceiling, which makes this the practical option in a rented flat.
Light at sitting height
At 140 to 160 cm the shade sits above your eyeline when seated, so you get light on the room rather than glare in your face.
Woven by hand
Rattan and bamboo shades are woven individually. Weave tension and colour depth vary slightly between pieces.

When a boho lamp works better standing than on a table
A floor lamp wins wherever there is no surface to put a lamp on. The corner beside a sofa, the end of a bed, the gap between an armchair and a window. It also wins when the surfaces you do have are already full, which in most living rooms they are.
A table lamp wins where you need light on a specific task at close range, like a bedside book. One lamp in this range doubles as both: the vintage wicker piece can be used standing or set on a low table.
The other advantage is reversibility. Nothing is fixed to the building, so the lamp moves with you and can be repositioned seasonally as the room gets used differently.
What a floor lamp with a rattan shade does to the light
Shade shape decides direction. An open cylinder or drum sends light up and down in roughly equal measure, which lifts a low ceiling. A closed dome pushes most of it downward into a pool, which is what you want beside a reading chair.
The weave then decides how much escapes sideways. Loose weaves glow across the whole shade and throw pattern onto the nearby wall, which is the effect most people are actually buying. Tight weaves keep the light contained and read more as a solid shape when lit.
Because these shades are open at the sides, keep the bulb wattage modest and stay between 2700K and 3000K. A cool bulb makes rattan look grey and flattens the texture completely.
Where to put a bohemian lamp so it earns its space
Corners are the default and they work, but the better position is usually just off the corner, beside the piece of furniture you use most. A lamp tight into a corner lights the corner. A lamp a step out from it lights you.
In a bedroom, a standing lamp at the foot of the bed or beside a chair gives you an evening light that does not involve the overhead. In a living room, one at each end of a sofa run reads as deliberate where a single one can look stranded.
Leave room for the shade. These are wider than a metal standing lamp of the same height, so measure the diameter against the gap between furniture before ordering rather than after.
Questions people ask
What is a boho floor lamp?
A standing lamp with a natural, handwoven shade, usually rattan, bamboo or straw. The look comes from the texture of the weave and the warm light it throws, rather than from any particular frame shape. Most sit between 140 and 160 cm tall.
How tall should a floor lamp be?
Between 140 and 160 cm suits most rooms. That keeps the bottom of the shade above your eyeline when you are sitting, so you see lit shade rather than a bare bulb. Taller than about 170 cm and the lamp starts to compete with the ceiling light instead of supplementing it.
Does a rattan shade give enough light to read by?
Only if the shade is a closed dome shape that directs light downward. Open cylinders spread light around the room instead of concentrating it. If the lamp is meant for reading, pick a dome shade and place the lamp beside and slightly behind the chair.
Which bulb suits a woven floor lamp?
A warm bulb between 2700K and 3000K, at a lower wattage than you would use in a solid shade. Woven shades let a lot of light straight out, so a bright bulb glares. Bulbs are not included, so check the socket size listed on the product page.
Can I use these lamps outdoors on a covered patio?
No. Rattan and bamboo take on moisture even under cover, and the weave loosens and stains over a season. These are indoor lamps. The one piece in the range designed for outdoor use is the lantern floor lamp, and only as a candle lantern rather than as wired lighting.
